Este mecanismo transforma el movimiento circular del piñón en rectilíneo de la cremallera o viceversa (es reversible).

Tornillo sin fin - corona
Transmite el movimiento circular entre ejes perpendiculares y reduce muchísimo la velocidad (por cada vuelta del tornillo sin fin, la corona se mueve sólo un diente). El movimiento va del tornillo sin fin a la corona, pero no al revés (no es reversible).
